Afro Cuban Drumming Workshop – Summer 2024

This workshop will provide students with the basic rhythms and some principles for improvisation in the seminal Afro-Cuban musical genre called rumba, one of the building blocks of modern Afro-Latin music like salsa and timba. Maestro Sandy will demonstrate the traditional Matanzas style (popularized by the group Muñequitos de Matanzas).
Drums will be available but students are encouraged to bring their own conga drum if they have one available. No experience necessary.
Beginner class runs from 1-2:30pm and costs $5
Intermediate class runs from 2:30-4pm and costs $15
