City Hall offering limited in-person services, Library offering curbside services, COVID-19 household study, + more | February 3, 2021

 Lynn City Hall offering limited in-person services starting today

Residents and business owners seeking to make CASH PAYMENTS ONLY in person to the Collector’s Office, Parking Department, and Inspectional Services Department, may do so at City Hall during regular business hours starting on Wednesday, February 3rd.
Visitors may park in ALL SPACES in the Johnson Street Parking Lot until further notice. They can either wait in line outside of the Johnson Street entrance to City Hall or can wait in their car after providing the desk attendant with their phone number to secure a spot in the queue. Those who leave their phone number will be notified by the desk attendant when they are able to enter. We ask for your patience with anticipated wait times.

All visitors entering the building are required to wear a mask at all times.
Upon entering, visitors will be directed to the appropriate staff on the first floor of the building only, to assist them in this limited in-person services. All other city business will continue to be conducted virtually at this time. To reach Departments by phone or email, or to make online payments for taxes and parking tickets, please visit www.lynnma.gov.
All checks and money orders for city related payments can be mailed or placed in the designated drop box outside of City Hall on Johnson Street.

Lynn Public Library resumes
curbside services

The Lynn Public Library has announced the return of curbside services, starting today (Feb. 3rd). According to the Library, “Staff will be contacting patrons who have holds available to schedule a pick-up date and time.” The Library staff will now begin getting caught up on getting caught up on contacting patrons, checking in returns, and processing requests.

The Lynn Public Library’s curbside services run from 10AM-5:30PM on Tuesday and 10AM-4PM on Monday, Wednesday, thursday, & Friday. After the service you want has been confirmed you can pick it up in your car in the Franklin St. lot or walk to the Chidlren’s Dept. entrance (also on Franklin Street). The Library’s curbside services include:

Adult/Young Adult item pick-ups

Items such as books, audiobooks, DVDs, CDs, and more are available. First you need to place your hold with the library and schedule a pick-up.

Children’s item pick-ups

Items such as children’s books, DVDs, CDs and more are available. First you need to place your hold with the library and schedule a pick-up.

Printing pick-up

Printing is free but limited to 30 pages per patron, per day. First you need to send your document and schedule a pick-up.

Fax Services

Faxing is free but limited to 10 pages per person, per day. First you need to schedule an appointment and then, after it is confirmed, you meet staff outside. They will take the document to send then return it to you.

Item returns

There are 24/7 drop boxes in their back parking lot & outside the Children’s Dept. entrance on Franklin Street as well as near the main handicap ramp on the Lynn Common side.

According to the Library, “All items are quarantined for 1 week before being handled by staff and checked in. Items will still appear on your account until then. Quarantined items will not accrue fines.”

New study on how COVID-19 impacts households from UMass Amherst

The University of Massachusetts (Amherst) Department of Economics and the School of Public Policy and Indiana University are conducting a national study that examines the profound direct and indirect impacts of COVID-19 on households.

The survey includes questions on several areas: impacts on finances, food security, physical and mental health, as well as the effects that school and daycare disruptions are having on work and family lives.

The study aims at informing equitable policy interventions and resilience plans. The survey will take 5 minutes for respondents without children and 8-12 minutes for respondents with children. You can learn more about the project here.

From Mayor McGee’s office: The Lynn Public Health Department has confirmed that as of today, the number of active, confirmed positive COVID-19 cases is 1,687 with 63 new cases today. 12,800 Lynn residents have recovered and 180 have died. The total number of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases in Lynn since March 21, 2020, including those who have died and recovered, is 14,667.
