2023 DPU Anti-Racist Education Program & Youth Rising Summit

Diverse People United (DPU) is hosting a Youth Education Program from Saturday, February 17, 2024 to Monday, February 19, 2024. DPU is a Lynn-based organization that has a mission of creating transformative healing through cooperative community based actions. This program is grant-funded by the Lynn Cultural Council. It was developed by DPU’s Outreach and Education Director Barbara Atim Okeny.
Who is this program for?
Lynn-based youth ages 14 to 24.
What is this program about?
This program combines our anti-racist education program and youth rising summit. It involves:
- Having conversations about race and racism.
- Learning how to be anti-racist.
- Motivating the next generation of leaders.
What will I do in this program?
- Watch movies, including 13th by Ava DuVernay.
- Engage in necessary conversations about leadership, activism, and social justice.
- Use the creative arts as part of a group mural and individual reflections.
When and where will this program take place?
- When: Saturday, February 17, 2024 – Monday, February 19, 2024
- Time: 10:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- Location: Lynn Tech, 80 Neptune Boulevard, Lynn, MA 01902
Each youth participant will receive a free lunch for each day of the program. We will provide a free bag of groceries for each family connected to this program.
