“Inspired By Word” – A GALA Exhibit

Have you ever been inspired by written or spoken words that prompted you to create a painting, sketch, a photo, collage or sculpture? Or, have you been inspired by the lyrics in music, prompting you to write or draw/paint/create art in response?

We see the marriage of words and images daily in various forms on television, in social media and advertising. Reflect on the words that have had the greatest effect on you. Reflect also, on the infinite images you have seen, and how you may have responded to them or were affected by them.

For our exhibit “Inspired By Word” we are looking for artworks that are inspired by both. We’re looking for works that will capture the imagination of conversations and dialogues, between the visual and the written pieces. We hope the vision for this type of exhibit might encourage collaborations between visual artists and writers to work together. Individual artists are also welcome to submit any artwork that addresses the concept.

Drop off your work in person on one of the following dates to have it juried:

Wednesday, August 23rd (12:00 – 4:00pm or by appointment)
Thursday, August 24th (1:00- 4:00pm)
Friday, August 25th (10:00am – 1:00pm)
Saturday, August 26th (12:00 – 4:00pm or by appointment)

Opening Reception will be held on Friday, September 1st 2023 (5:30pm – 7:30pm)
