DESCRIPTION:All are welcome to join UUCGL for some Drumagic! \nIt is a way to express yourself. You will leave the afternoon feeling inspired and relaxed. Our drum circle is open to hand drummers over the age of 16. Beginners (with drums) are always welcome. We jam to West African and Haitian-inspired rhythms on djembes\, ashikos\, dunduns\, congas\, dumbeks\, and makeshift hand drums. Please no snare drums\, kit drums\, or bucket and stick drums. \nIf you do not own a drum or are unable to borrow one from a friend\, flat-bottomed\, rounded-edge water cooler jugs and flat-bottomed\, rounded edge (not sharp edge) Rubbermaid-type wastebaskets work fine as makeshift drums. \nNever drummed before? No Problem. We will show you the way. Come out and plan to have an afternoon of spiritual awakening\, fun\, and meeting wonderful people. Oh\, and if you like to dance\, drum rhythms are great to move to as well. \nCost: Volunteer donation of $5 to $10 suggested. DESCRIPTION:OPENING RECEPTION: Saturday\, July 26 from 5-8pm \nJulie Kramer is a Massachusetts-born radio icon and rock-scene photographer best known for her nearly 25-year tenure at Boston’s legendary alternative rock station WFNX\, where she served as a DJ\, music director\, and in-house photographer. Hailing from Marblehead\, she became known for popular programs like Leftover Lunch and helped launch the careers of artists like Nirvana\, Smashing Pumpkins\, Adele\, and Florence + the Machine. Julie was rarely without her camera\, capturing iconic black-and-white and color images of music legends such as David Bowie\, Iggy Pop\, Joe Strummer\, and Björk. After WFNX was sold in 2012\, she helped launch RadioBDC\, which later became Indie617\, where she remains active today. \nA trove of over 10\,000 photo negatives discovered in her basement led to The Basement Archives: The Ghosts of WFNX\, a photo exhibition honoring Boston’s alternative music history. Though her original passion was photography\, Julie’s role at WFNX allowed her to merge sound and image in a career that defined a generation of alternative rock radio. \n“30 years ago I photographed incredible local and national bands and musicians.   Taking it back to where it all started 25 Exchange St -Lynn The original home of WFNX\, now Galleries at Lynn Arts. DESCRIPTION:Please join the Lynn Public Schools Coordinated Family and Community Engagement Program for the StoryWalk(R) Ribbon Cutting at Flax Pond Playground on Wednesday\, July 30 at 2:00 PM.  They are very excited to offer this wonderful outdoor literacy experience to families. \nEnjoy the story Lost by David McPhail and quality time together in the great outdoors. \nStoryWalk(R) consists of wooden posts that hold pages from a children’s book\, built by the LVTI Carpentry Program.  Every few months CFCE will change the story. \nThe StoryWalk(R) Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier\, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. StoryWalk(R) aims to encourage literacy skills with families outdoors.
