SUMMARY:Tuesday Artists' Group Pop Up at GALA
DESCRIPTION:The Galleries at LynnArts are currently hosting an engaging and exuberant exhibition by the Tuesday Artists Group\, a newly-formed collective whose first show is a bold testament to what can blossom when artists are given space\, support\, and shared purpose. On view through July 20th\, the pop-up show features a compelling range of experimental and collaborative works created over the past six months in weekly sessions and museum visits. \nWhat’s immediately striking is the breadth and variety of artistic approaches represented. From meticulous realism to expressive abstraction\, this show resists stylistic uniformity—and in doing so\, underscores the rich\, layered possibilities of group-based artmaking. One of the unifying threads\, however\, is the use of vibrant and enchanting color. Across mediums and techniques\, color becomes a language of joy\, reflection\, and play. \nA standout moment within the show is a wall devoted to a shared theme: boats. Each artist has interpreted this motif in their own voice\, resulting in a fascinating dialogue of perspectives. Some render boats with precision and quietude\, anchored in realism; others dissolve the forms into abstraction\, allowing gesture and palette to evoke motion\, memory\, or metaphor. The juxtaposition is both delightful and revealing\, showcasing the unique vision each artist brings to a common starting point. \nThe group’s collaborative spirit culminates in a silent auction to be held during the artist reception on Friday\, July 18th\, from 4:30 to 7 PM. Works created throughout the group’s journey will be available at accessible price points—an excellent opportunity for collectors and supporters to take home original art while investing directly in the group’s future. Proceeds will help fund much-needed art supplies\, ensuring this dynamic and inclusive group can continue its meaningful work. \nIn a time when community-centered\, grassroots art spaces are more vital than ever\, the Tuesday Artists Group offers a fresh\, inspiring model. SUMMARY:Underground Icons: Julie Kramer Photography
DESCRIPTION:OPENING RECEPTION: Saturday\, July 26 from 5-8pm \nJulie Kramer is a Massachusetts-born radio icon and rock-scene photographer best known for her nearly 25-year tenure at Boston’s legendary alternative rock station WFNX\, where she served as a DJ\, music director\, and in-house photographer. Hailing from Marblehead\, she became known for popular programs like Leftover Lunch and helped launch the careers of artists like Nirvana\, Smashing Pumpkins\, Adele\, and Florence + the Machine. Julie was rarely without her camera\, capturing iconic black-and-white and color images of music legends such as David Bowie\, Iggy Pop\, Joe Strummer\, and Björk. After WFNX was sold in 2012\, she helped launch RadioBDC\, which later became Indie617\, where she remains active today. \nA trove of over 10\,000 photo negatives discovered in her basement led to The Basement Archives: The Ghosts of WFNX\, a photo exhibition honoring Boston’s alternative music history. Though her original passion was photography\, Julie’s role at WFNX allowed her to merge sound and image in a career that defined a generation of alternative rock radio. \n“30 years ago I photographed incredible local and national bands and musicians.   Taking it back to where it all started 25 Exchange St -Lynn The original home of WFNX\, now Galleries at Lynn Arts.
