SUMMARY:Community "Drumagic" Drum Circle
DESCRIPTION:All are welcome to join UUCGL for some Drumagic! \nIt is a way to express yourself. You will leave the afternoon feeling inspired and relaxed. Our drum circle is open to hand drummers over the age of 16. Beginners (with drums) are always welcome. We jam to West African and Haitian-inspired rhythms on djembes\, ashikos\, dunduns\, congas\, dumbeks\, and makeshift hand drums. Please no snare drums\, kit drums\, or bucket and stick drums. \nIf you do not own a drum or are unable to borrow one from a friend\, flat-bottomed\, rounded-edge water cooler jugs and flat-bottomed\, rounded edge (not sharp edge) Rubbermaid-type wastebaskets work fine as makeshift drums. \nNever drummed before? No Problem. We will show you the way. Come out and plan to have an afternoon of spiritual awakening\, fun\, and meeting wonderful people. Oh\, and if you like to dance\, drum rhythms are great to move to as well. \nCost: Volunteer donation of $5 to $10 suggested. We usually meet on the second Sunday of each month. \nPlease note: for security reasons the doors will be locked promptly at 1:35pm\, so make sure to be on time! \n\nThe above information was submitted to us by the Unitarian Universalist Church of Greater Lynn

SUMMARY:A Night of Dreams: Unidos for Education - Gala
DESCRIPTION:From the Lynn Hispanic Scholarship Fund: This past spring the Lynn Hispanic Scholarship Fund changed our traditional Scholarship Awards Gala to a Scholarship Reception. Our decision was intentional. We wanted to create an opportunity to honor our 2025 LHSF Scholars in a more intimate setting where the focus was on the students. The event was a celebration where students’ families\, friends and close supporters came together in familia. \n \nAs a growing organization\, the LHSF aims to offer more opportunities for the youth in our community. For this reason\, we have decided to create a new fall gala where we plan to highlight our alumni\, showcase our Latino/a/x culture and have some fun while raising the funds to expand our programs and scholarships. \n \nThe LHSF is excited to invite you to A Night of Dreams: Unidos for Education on Thursday\, October 23 at 6:00pm at Spinelli’s in Peabody. Our hope is that you can join us for an evening dedicated to celebrating the power of education and the dreams it makes possible. \nPlease click here to purchase tickets\, become a sponsor\, & for more information
