SUMMARY:2026 Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Community Ofrenda
DESCRIPTION:From the City of Lynn:Community members of all ages are invited to honor loved ones at Lynn’s first Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) community ofrenda on Sunday\, November 1. \n\nInspired by the Mexican/Latin American tradition of the Día de los Muertos altar\, or ofrenda\, this community project will invite residents to come down to 25 Exchange Street on November 1st to remember loved ones\, learn about the tradition\, contribute art and memories\, and reflect on the many ways communities experience grief and maintain connections across generations.\n\nAn ofrenda is a traditional altar set up during Día de los Muertos to honor and remember deceased loved ones. It is lovingly decorated with marigold flowers\, candles\, photos\, and personal items or favorite foods of the departed. Rather than a site of mourning\, the ofrenda serves as a welcoming space meant to guide the spirits of ancestors back home to celebrate with the living.\n\nThe day’s festivities kick off with Mariachi Brunch Pop-Ups from across participating downtown dining locations\, including La Copa Cafe\, April’s Restaurant\, Estefani’s Restaurant\, and The Blue Ox from 10am to 12pm. Diners can enjoy a visit from a local mariachi band and face painting.\n\nFrom 12 to 2:30 PM\, the community is invited to the Community Gallery at 25 Exchange Street for a free Community Ofrenda event. Come add a drawing or message to the altar to honor a loved one\, or get creative and make paper marigolds (cempasúchil) and other traditional crafts like papel picado.\nA free screening of Disney Pixar’s Coco will be held at 2:30 PM just down the hall at 25 Exchange Street in The Vault Theater.\n\nThis event is a collaboration between Lynn Main Streets\, Millennium Latino Project\, RAW Art Works\, and Cojuelos’ Productions.\n\nAfter the event\, the ofrenda will be on display in the Community Gallery through November 7th. \n\nSchedule of Events Summary:\n\n\n10:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Mariachi Brunch Pop-Ups at La Copa Cafe\, April’s Restaurant\, Estefani’s Restaurant\, and The Blue Ox\n\n\n12:00 PM – 2:30 PM: Free Community Ofrenda & Crafts at Community Gallery (25 Exchange St)\n\n\n2:30 PM: Free Screening of Coco with Popcorn at The Vault Theater / Lynn Music Foundation (25 Exchange St)\n\n\nPartners & Sponsors\n\nThis community event is made possible through the collaboration of local organizations and local businesses:\n\n\nOrganizers: RAW Art Works\, Lynn Main Streets\, Cojuelos’ Productions\, and Millennium Latino Project.\n\n\nContributors: Hot chocolate provided by Mal Idea; candles provided by Natural Glow\n\n\nSponsors: Lynn Housing Authority & Neighborhood Development\, New American Association of Massachusetts\, MANKA\, Rotary\, North Shore Juneteenth Association Inc.\, and Suazo Painting & Demolition Corp.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Venue\n\nThe Community Gallery at GALA and The Vault Theater at the Lynn Music Foundation are located at 25 Exchange Street\, Lynn\, MA.\n\nContact for Lynn Main Streets: Michael Lucerto director@lynnmainstreets.org\nContact for Millennium Latino Project: Stephanie Herrera Rios sh@millenniumlatinoproject.com & Edwin Rosales er@millenniumlatinoproject.com\nContact for RAW Art Works / Cojuelos’ Productions: Rosario Ubiera-Minaya rosario@rawartworks.org

SUMMARY:Public Meeting | Regional Rail Modernization
DESCRIPTION:From the MBTA: \nThe MBTA today reminds the public that two upcoming meetings are being hosted to learn about the agency’s plan for regional rail modernization. \nThe MBTA is developing a long-range plan to continue transforming the Commuter Rail systeminto a modern Regional Rail system. The plan is being developed with input from riders\, stakeholders\, and communities across the region. The plan will explain the MBTA’s long-term goals or Regional Rail service which will guide investments over the next decades. Ultimately\, this plan will also elaborate on the agency’s decision-making criteria and data that will inform its future investments. This first phase of public engagement is designed to ensure that both our riders and the public at large understand what it will take\, in terms of capital investments\, to run at significantly higher frequencies. \n“The MBTA had one of the best return-to-ridership rates across the nation since Covid thanks to work done to make our Commuter Rail something riders could depend on more often\,” said Interim Secretary and MBTA General Manager Phillip Eng. “The needs and demands as demonstrated by the riders are a key driver as we take steps towards making Commuter Rail a Regional Rail that serves an even broader range of trips and communities forth more frequent bidirectional service. We are seeing more people to turn to trains and public transit beyond their workday commutes\, and we plan to keep it that way.” \nThe MBTA welcomes community members and the public at large to meet with its representatives at either of the following virtual public meeting to learn more about the agency’s planning process and to share feedback. Comments can also be shared digitally on the MBTA’s website. Future phases of public engagement for the Regional Rail Modernization Planning efforts will take place in the Spring of 2027. \nMeeting Schedule:\nAmerican Sign Language interpretation will be available during the online meeting as well as other languages upon request in advance by contacting CapitalEngagement@mbta.com \nDate: Wednesday\, November 4\, 2026 at 6:00 PM\nLocation: Online \nDate: Tuesday\, November 17\, 2026 at 6:00 PM\nLocation: Online \n_______________________ \nLearn more about the MBTA’s Regional Rail modernization planning efforts and share feedback online now. \nFor more information\, visit MBTA.com or connect with the T on X @MBTA and @MBTA_CR\, Facebook /TheMBTA\, Instagram @theMBTA\, Threads @thembta\, or TikTok @thembta. \n\nAbout The Animal Rescue League of Boston \nPets are family.
