DESCRIPTION:This year’s Frederick Douglass Reading\, hosted by the North Shore Juneteenth Association and sponsored by Mass Humanities\, Thursday July 3rd at Frederick Douglass Park will begin at 11am with the unveiling of a new Frederick Douglass wayfinding sign. \nThe sign’s design and text were the result of a multiyear collaboration between Barbara Buls of the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR)\, Tom Dalton\, author of Frederick Douglass\, the Lynn Years\, Doneeca Thurston-Chaves\, Executive Director of the Lynn Museum\, and Wendy Joseph\, Curator of the Grand Army of the Republic Hall & Museum. \nSincere thanks to State Senator Brendan Creighton\, whose initiative helped launch the partnership between the DCR and local Lynn historians. DESCRIPTION:The Friends of Lynn and Nahant Beach’s annual series of free public concerts at Red Rock Park overlooking Lynn Beach has returned! DESCRIPTION:All are welcome to join UUCGL for some Drumagic! \nIt is a way to express yourself. You will leave the afternoon feeling inspired and relaxed. Our drum circle is open to hand drummers over the age of 16. Beginners (with drums) are always welcome. We jam to West African and Haitian-inspired rhythms on djembes\, ashikos\, dunduns\, congas\, dumbeks\, and makeshift hand drums. Please no snare drums\, kit drums\, or bucket and stick drums. \nIf you do not own a drum or are unable to borrow one from a friend\, flat-bottomed\, rounded-edge water cooler jugs and flat-bottomed\, rounded edge (not sharp edge) Rubbermaid-type wastebaskets work fine as makeshift drums. \nNever drummed before? No Problem. We will show you the way. Come out and plan to have an afternoon of spiritual awakening\, fun\, and meeting wonderful people. Oh\, and if you like to dance\, drum rhythms are great to move to as well. \nCost: Volunteer donation of $5 to $10 suggested. DESCRIPTION:Inc.ubate Coworking Lynn & The Lynn Music Foundation are excited to announce our latest collaboration\, the Civil Society Screenings @ The Neal Rantoul Vault Theatre. \nThe Civil Society Screenings are curated to create public dialogue over conflict (familial\, political\, cultural\, and socio-economic) and ways to move to mutual understanding and organized community activism.  This monthly film series is designed to make you think\, and develop a framework to engage your community for positive change. \nFilms Start at 7pm (Doors 6:30pm) \n___________________ \nThe Beautiful Country Summary \nBinh\, a Vietnamese Amerasian boy\, faces discrimination and leaves his village to find his mother in Saigon. After a fatal incident involving her employer\, Binh flees with his younger brother Tam. En route to America\, a storm diverts their boat to Malaysia\, where they meet Ling\, a prostitute who helps them escape. Tam dies during the harsh voyage. In New York\, Binh works while Ling moves on. Learning he qualifies for citizenship\, Binh travels to Texas to find his blind father.
