SUMMARY:2026 Khmer New Year Community Fair
DESCRIPTION:From Kakrona Center Inc.: The Khmer New Year Community Fair is our signature event\, a day when the historic Lynn Commons is transformed into a sea of color\, music\, and cultural pride. This festival is a labor of love for Kakrona Center Inc.\, designed to welcome the new year with open hearts and a shared spirit of “Khmer Help Khmer.” It serves as a vital bridge between generations and a platform for our community to showcase the richness of Cambodian cuisine\, traditional arts\, and modern performances to the greater Lynn area. \nThis year\, we are excited to elevate the experience with new performances\, expanded cultural activities\, and an even wider variety of local vendors. Thousands of neighbors and visitors gather annually to enjoy the live band\, witness the beauty of traditional dance\, and taste the authentic flavors of our food vendors. Beyond the festivities\, this fair is a statement of our presence and our contribution to the cultural fabric of Massachusetts. We welcome everyone—families\, students\, and neighbors—to join us for a day of unity and celebration. Whether you are there to enjoy the music or to support our local entrepreneurs\, your presence helps us keep our heritage thriving for years to come. \nPre-festival parade:\nStarts from City Hall Square at 7:30am \nFestival:\nOn Lynn Common from 10am-6pm \nClick here for event updates\n\n\n\nApril 20th update from Kakrona: We are officially just ONE WEEK away from our Khmer New Year Festival and the excitement is building! Avery is proud to announce the First Annual Ward 7 Family Fun Day\, a free community event designed to bring neighbors together\, strengthen community connections\, and provide a fun\, safe\, and welcoming day for families throughout Lynn. \nThe event will take place on Saturday\, July 18\, 2026\, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Barry Park\, with a rain date of Sunday\, July 19\, 2026. \nAs a newly elected City Councilor\, Avery said one of his priorities has been creating opportunities for residents to connect outside of City Hall. \n“When I was growing up\, neighbors knew neighbors. Kids played outside together\, families looked out for one another\, and there was a stronger sense of community\,” said Avery. “As a newly elected City Councilor\, I felt it was important to create an event that brings people together\, helps neighbors get to know one another again\, and provides a safe\, family-friendly day right here in Ward 7. My hope is that this becomes a tradition that continues for years to come.” \nAdmission is free and open to all residents and families. \n“This event is about bringing people together\, building relationships\, and reminding ourselves that strong neighborhoods create a stronger Lynn” – Councilor Avery \nThe free event will feature: \n\nBounce Houses\nGames & Kids Activities\nFace Painting\nDJ & Music\nFood & Snacks\nCommunity Resources\nDunk Tank sponsored by Cuckie’s Soft Serve Ice Cream\n\nThe Ward 7 Family Fun Day Planning Committee is currently seeking volunteers\, sponsors\, and donations from local businesses\, organizations\, and community members throughout Lynn and the North Shore to help make the event a success. \nAll sponsorships and donations will go directly toward event activities\, supplies\, entertainment\, and ensuring the event remains free for families. \nBusinesses interested in supporting the event can contact Sponsor Coordinator Nastasia via email by clicking here. Residents interested in volunteering can contact Volunteer Coordinator Lashauna via email by clicking here.  \n  \n
