SUMMARY:Open House | Lynnway Multimodal Corridor Project
DESCRIPTION:From the MBTA: The MBTA\, City of Lynn\, and the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) are working to make the Lynnway safer\, more accessible\, and more connected. \nWe invite you to attend one of our events this spring to learn about the Lynnway draft concept design and provide your feedback. You will learn about how the project will make the road safer\, improve transit service\, modernize traffic signals\, and better serve the corridor’s future development. We will also share details about street trees and how we’re coordinating with other projects. \nAll four open houses will have the exact same information – please choose the one that is most convenient for you. Can’t make it in person? You can join the virtual public meeting or provide feedback online (coming soon). \nDownload a PDF of fliers in multiple languages by clicking here\nLynn Community Open House (in person)\nThursday\, May 7\, 2026\, 5:30 – 7:30 PM\nWelcome Center\, Lynn Public Schools\n195 Market Street\, Lynn\, MA 01901 \nSwampscott Community Open House (in person)\nWednesday\, May 13\, 2026\, 5:30 – 7:30 PM\nSwampscott Senior Center\n200R Essex Street\, Rear\, Swampscott\, MA 01907 \nVirtual Public Meeting\nThursday\, May 14\, 2026\, 6:00 – 7:30 PM\nVirtual Zoom Meeting: Register Here \nNahant Community Open House (in person)\nTuesday\, May 19\, 2026\, 5:30 – 7:30 PM\nNahant Town Hall\n334 Nahant Road\, Nahant\, MA 01908 \nMarblehead Community Open House (in person)\nWednesday\, May 20\, 2026\, 5:30 – 7:30 PM\nMarblehead Senior Center\n10 Humphrey Street\, Marblehead\, MA 01945 \nAbout the Project\nThe Lynnway is a major roadway\, part of Route 1A\, and is owned and operated by DCR. The project area extends north from the General Edwards Bridge at the Revere city line to just north of Market Street and serves as a significant north-south connection to and within the city. For decades\, the Lynnway’s design has prioritized the movement of motor vehicles\, resulting in a difficult and intimidating area for pedestrians\, cyclists\, and bus riders to navigate\, and serving as a barrier to the waterfront. \nThe Lynnway Multimodal Corridor Project will include safety and reliability improvements for all modes of transportation – from those who drive\, walk\, and bike to those who take public transportation. As part of this project\, there will also be improved access both across and along the Lynnway\, making it safer for people to access places like the new Harbor Park. \nThe Lynnway Multimodal Corridor Project builds upon several plans from the MBTA\, City of Lynn\, and Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR). Safe\, multimodal transportation improvements to the Lynnway are essential to supporting the City’s vision for the area to transform it as a gateway to the Lynn community. \nAccommodations\nThis meeting is accessible to people with disabilities and those with limited proficiency in English. Spanish interpretation will be available at the Lynn Open House and Virtual Public Meeting. Accessibility accommodations and language services will be provided free of charge\, upon request\, as available. For more information or to request a reasonable accommodation and/or language services\, please email BetterBusProject@mbta.com \nMore Information\nLearn more at MBTA.com/Lynnway.
