DESCRIPTION:From the Lynn Veterans Council: The Lynn Veterans Council is currently looking for volunteers\, marchers\, sponsors\, and donations – more details will be announced closer to the event. \nThe Lynn Veterans Council will be holding a parade to remember\, honor\, and never forget those individuals who lost their lives in that terrible terrorist attack on the World Trade Center on 9/11.  It is the 25th anniversary for the Global War on Terror\, and of course the 250th Birthday of America. \nAs of today\, there are 8 marching bands\, 3 Grand Marshals (Veterans Grand Marshal\, Police Grand Marshal\, and Fire Grand Marshal)\, 20 military vehicles to include a tank\, 7 local Junior ROTC Programs\, numerous military organizations\, numerous police vehicles (old & new)\, numerous fire trucks\, and 2 trolleys to have veterans and first responders that cannot walk the parade\, but want to be in the parade so they can ride. \n  \nParade route\n \nThe parade route is about 1.5 miles in length. Join the Lynn Museum & Art Center’s Collections Manager\, Christopher Locke\, for a discussion of Lynn’s involvement in the fateful events of April 19th\, 1775\, from the soldiers who met the British in the field to the loved ones at home who helped sustain the revolution. \nBefore the event\, get a look at the Museum’s display of Revolutionary War artifacts. DESCRIPTION:From UUCGL: Join us to celebrate Lydia Newhall Breed (1925–2019)\, beloved North Shore artist and founding member of The Boston Printmakers\, in a mixed-media exhibit at UUCGL. \nOpening September 27th\, the show will feature Lydia’s prints and sculptures displayed alongside works by local artists exploring five themes: trees and forests\, the sea\, the inner light\, nature\, and social justice. \nPublic Hours: Oct. 4 from 3-5pm\, Oct. 13 from 6-8pm\, and Oct. 18 from 4-6pm \nAbout Lydia Breed: \nLydia Newhall Breed (1925–2019) was a Lynn-born\, Swampscott-based artist whose work spanned printmaking\, illustration\, and sculpture. She was a founding member of the Boston Printmakers in 1947. Her career included teaching in the Boston school system\, illustrating children’s books\, and traveling to Japan to study advanced woodcut techniques. \nBreed’s art reflected the Boston Figurative Expressionist style of the 1940s–50s\, blending subject matter with expressive abstraction. She created landscapes\, religious scenes\, and works of activism\, often with a distinctive\, “sparkling” quality that conveyed emotion and tension. \neyond her art\, Breed was a fifth-generation member of UUCGL\, contributing as an educator and artist. Some of her sculptures and prints are displayed in our church building. She was also active in the Lynn Historical Society\, the Friends of Lynn Woods\, and the Marblehead Arts Association\, as well as volunteering at the Lynn Museum & Historical Society. \nLydia Breed passed away on December 28\, 2019\, at age 94\, after a long illness. DESCRIPTION:Join the Monday Night Drawing Group at the Galleries at LynnArts\, hosted by Annette Sykes of Paint by the Ocean. This weekly session offers artists of all levels the opportunity to draw from a live\, clothed or unclothed model in a relaxed\, supportive environment. Bring your own art supplies and enjoy an evening of creative exploration.​\n\nThese drawing groups will meet every Monday from 6-9pm at GALA. Fees are $18 for GALA Members\, $20 for Non-Members\, & $18 for Students. This gallery show will run from June 26 through October 10 in the Museum building’s second-floor community gallery.\n\nAuthentically YOU is a gallery theme that celebrates the full spectrum of queer identity\, expression\, and becoming. The concept centers on self‑definition\, visibility\, and the courage it takes to live as your truest self in a world that often demands conformity.
