DESCRIPTION:From LynnLab: Join us in exploring and educating our neighbors about Lynn’s shoreline. \nSchedule\nBeach Clean Up\n9am\nHosted by Friends of Lynn and Nahant Beach \nShoreline BioBlitz\n10am\nStarting at low tide\, participants will explore and work collaboratively to observe\, identify\, and document coastal species found along the shoreline. Guided by LynnLab staff and volunteers\, participants will learn to recognize common intertidal organisms\, understand their ecological roles\, and explore how biodiversity contributes to healthy ocean systems. \nAdditionally\, this is an opportunity to help clean the beach. \nSensory Stations + Seaweed Discovery\n10-1pm\nFor participants unable to join LynnLab on the beach\, we will have a sampling of specimens at our tables\, including a sensory sandbox for exploration\, a traveling tidepool tank from Northeastern University’s Marine Science Center\, and plankton samples to view under the microscope. \nLynnLab will have a sensory seaweed station featuring local seaweed samples to explore. Additionally\, there will be an opportunity to use seaweed and pipettes to create a unique piece of artwork. \nLynnLab + Parner Information Station\n10am-1pm\nLynnLab will have a table specifically for showcasing our past work\, how to get involved\, and upcoming learning opportunities for Lynn youth and adult learners. DESCRIPTION:From the Lynn Portugal Day Committee: Lynn’s Portugal Day Celebration will take place on Tuesday\, June 9th at 5:00 PM at Lynn City Hall. This is our second year hosting the event\, and our theme will focus on the immigrant experience and the importance of tradition\, putting a human face to immigration and highlighting the stories\, resilience\, and cultural contributions of our Portuguese community. \nThe evening will begin with a flag raising ceremony\, followed by light refreshments. Afterward\, attendees will be invited to the Lynn Auditorium for a special free screening of the award winning short documentary Malassada Day by Portuguese director Dante Bellini Jr. The film is approximately 18 minutes long and centers on a dedicated group of women from both the Azores and mainland Portugal who have spent decades making malassadas for the semi annual feasts at Our Lady of the Rosary. As many of these women are aging\, facing illness\, or have passed on\, the documentary beautifully captures both tradition and legacy. \nClick here for the Facebook event page

DESCRIPTION:Join the Monday Night Drawing Group at the Galleries at LynnArts\, hosted by Annette Sykes of Paint by the Ocean. This weekly session offers artists of all levels the opportunity to draw from a live\, clothed or unclothed model in a relaxed\, supportive environment. Bring your own art supplies and enjoy an evening of creative exploration.​\n\nThese drawing groups will meet every Monday from 6-9pm at GALA. Fees are $18 for GALA Members\, $20 for Non-Members\, & $18 for Students.
