With cooler weather on the horizon, National Grid is encouraging customers to take control of their home’s energy efficiency by scheduling a Home Energy Assessment to find ways to save on energy usage and bills.

Through the No-Cost Home Energy Assessment, National Grid sets customers up with an Energy Specialist who will walk through the home, create a customized energy report, and provide no-cost energy-saving products, such as advanced power strips, low-flow showerheads, faucet aerators, and programmable thermostats for installation in a home.

“Before the winter heating season begins, we want to encourage customers to be proactive and have an energy assessment done,” said Helen Burt, Chief Customer Officer, National Grid. “Customers who get an assessment can put in place measures that can help them be more comfortable at home and save on their energy bills as our weather becomes cooler.”

Based on the Home Energy Assessment report, customers may also be eligible for:

  • 75 to 100 percent off approved insulation improvements and no-cost targeted air sealing, which lower energy costs and improve the efficiency of heating and cooling systems
  • Generous rebates of up to $15,000 on qualifying energy-efficient heating, cooling, and water-heating equipment, with even more financial support available to income-qualified customers
  • Information on how to qualify for a 0 percent interest loan for eligible energy-efficiency improvements

The value of home weatherization installation for National Grid customers through a Home Energy Assessment is, on average, over $4,000.

Massachusetts customers who live in a one- to four-unit home and are homeowners, renters, or landlords are all eligible for the assessments.
