Prior to this event at 11am the First Church of the Nazarene will host their annual Community Cookout & Backpack Giveaway. \nOn July 5\, 1852\, Frederick Douglass delivered “What\, to the Slave\, Is the Fourth of July?” -a speech that challenged the nation to live up to its ideals of liberty\, justice\, and equality. More than 170 years later\, his words continue to inspire important conversations about freedom\, democracy\, and our shared responsibility to build a more perfect union. \nThis event is open to everyone. DESCRIPTION:From the Lynn First Church of the Nazarene: D.J.\, backpacks with school supplies will be given away while supplies last – First come\, first served beginning at 11am. Lynn Police will be giving out ice cream beginning at 12 noon. Hot dogs\, chips\, cookies and drinks will be provided. Information on Community resources will be available at tables. \nThe Reading Frederick Douglass Together event\, hosted by Nicole McClain and Juneteenth Association\, will begin at 1pm inside the church with readings\, dance and music.
