SUMMARY:Pondside Chorus: A Vernal Pool Experience
DESCRIPTION:From the Unitarian Universalist Church of Greater Lynn: A Presentation\, Live Animal Exhibit\, and Vernal Pool Exploration being held on Monday\, April 13th at 6:30pm. \nEver wonder what makes those “BLEEP-BLEEP-BLEEP” and “CHIRP-CHIRP-CHIRP” sounds in the woods? On warm\, rainy spring days\, the forest comes alive with mysterious calls. Are they birds? Bugs? Frogs? Something else entirely? \nCome find out at a free\, family-friendly exploration of vernal ponds and the amazing creatures that depend on them. Vernal ponds are temporary\, fishless wetlands that fill with rainfall and snow melt. They’re essential breeding grounds for amphibians and other species and they can be found right here in Swampscott! \n🎥 The Adventure Begins Indoors  \nWe’ll kick things off with “Vernal Ponds\,” a 15‑minute film created by the Cape Ann Vernal Pond Team and shot entirely on Cape Ann. The video offers a fascinating introduction to vernal pond ecology and the hidden world these temporary wetlands support. \n🐸 Meet the Experts (and the Wildlife!)  \nRick Roth from the Cape Ann Vernal Pond Team will share why vernal pond certification and protection matter\, answer your questions\, and introduce you to a few live frogs\, salamanders\, and other critters up close. \n🌲 Then We Head Into the Woods*  \nAfter the indoor program\, we’ll venture outside together for a guided walk to a certified vernal pool in the woods surrounding the building. Experience firsthand the sights and sounds of these seasonal habitats and the wildlife that rely on them. \n*Rain or Shine! If participating in the exploration\, we recommend you wear waterproof footwear and bring a flashlight. \n\nClick here to register for free

No Problem. We will show you the way. Come out and plan to have an afternoon of spiritual awakening\, fun\, and meeting wonderful people. Oh\, and if you like to dance\, drum rhythms are great to move to as well. \nCost: Volunteer donation of $5 to $10 suggested. We usually meet on the second Sunday of each month. \nPlease note: for security reasons the doors will be locked promptly at 1:35pm\, so make sure to be on time! \n\nThe above information was submitted to us by the Unitarian Universalist Church of Greater Lynn

SUMMARY:Community "Drumagic" Drum Circle
DESCRIPTION:All are welcome to join UUCGL for some Drumagic! \nIt is a way to express yourself. You will leave the afternoon feeling inspired and relaxed. Our drum circle is open to hand drummers over the age of 16. Beginners (with drums) are always welcome. We jam to West African and Haitian-inspired rhythms on djembes\, ashikos\, dunduns\, congas\, dumbeks\, and makeshift hand drums. Please no snare drums\, kit drums\, or bucket and stick drums. \nIf you do not own a drum or are unable to borrow one from a friend\, flat-bottomed\, rounded-edge water cooler jugs and flat-bottomed\, rounded edge (not sharp edge) Rubbermaid-type wastebaskets work fine as makeshift drums. \nNever drummed before?
