This July we will be holding three events at LCTV that are free & open to the public. The first is the usual Paramount Film Series screening happening on Monday, July 8. Later on in July we will be screening an Emmy Award-winning documentary and holding a public seminar on hosting your own show!

Paramount Film Series: Big Hero 6

The next movie in our FREE Paramount Film Screening Series will be “Big Hero 6”! This film was decided via a poll that the public voted on!
Loosely based on the superhero team of the same name by Marvel Comics, the film is the 54th Disney animated feature film. The film tells the story of Hiro Hamada, a young robotics prodigy who forms a superhero team to combat a masked villain.
Critics enjoyed the movie, giving it an 89% on Rotten Tomatoes & 74% from Metacritic. It was also awarded Best Animated Feature at the 87th Academy Awards.
This movie starts at 7PM, is free, and there will be refreshments available for free as well! We will be playing the film in our studio at 181 Union Street in Downtown Lynn.

The Paramount Film Series is named in honor of the Paramount Theater, which used to sit at the same location that LCTV occupies today. On the second Monday of each month LCTV will screen a different film for free at 7PM, with doors opening at 6:30PM.
Public Seminar: Hosting 101

Everyone is welcome to come down to LCTV to learn what it takes to host a program! This is a totally free seminar that is open to both LCTV members and the public. This will be filled on a first-come first-served basis to the first 10 people to sign up.
This seminar will be presented by LCTV News Director Mukala Kabongo. Participants will go over pre-show prep, booking guests in a timely fashion, and more! At the end of the seminar participants will have the opportunity to host a segment with other participants.

Emmy Award-winning documentary: “Protect, Serve, & Care”

We are proud to announce that we will be screening the Emmy Award-winning documentary “Protect, Serve, & Care” for free at LCTV! The documentary was directed by Lynn Tech Teacher Noube Rateau & William Medero. There will also be a Q&A session following the screening.
“Protect, Serve, & Care” focuses on the relationship between police and minorities & won the Emmy for most outstanding documentary at the 42nd annual Emmy Awards by the Boston/New England Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

Synopsis:
This film examines the complex relationship between law enforcement and minorities and sheds light on some of the most controversial police involved shootings from the perspective of both law enforcement and the families of those effected.
This motion picture features newly appointed Boston Police Commissioner William Gross, who gives a unique police point of view while also speaking from the perspective of a black man, as well as family members and of high profile police shooting incidents including the mothers of Baltimore’s Kevin Cooper, Oakland’s Oscar Grant and New York’s Amadou Diaollo.
