Believe it or not, the 2020 Presidential Primary is almost here! In Lynn, the Primary is scheduled to happen on Tuesday, March 3rd. You have until Feb. 12th to register to vote, or change your party affiliation.
The Presidential Primary is semi-closed in Massachusetts, meaning you only get one ballot for one political party. If you are a Democrat you only get a Democratic ballot, Republicans get a Republican ballot, Libertarians get a Libertarian ballot, and so on. An Unenrolled voter may vote but will be required to choose either a Democratic, Green Rainbow, Libertarian, or Republican ballot.
Early voting will occur from February 24-28, 2020 at Lynn City Hall. There is also the opportunity to vote via an Absentee Ballot and mail it in before the March 3rd Primary. Information for this can be found by clicking here.
The City of Lynn Election Office has many resources including how to register to vote, where to vote, and more. You can find out more on their website by clicking here.
Recently City Clerk & Chief of Elections Janet Rowe for the City of Lynn sat down for a short video with information about the Primary. You can watch it below:
