National Day of Mourning & Lament | June 1, 2020
The number of people in the United States who have died from COVID-19 surpassed 100,000. To mourn that immense loss of life as a country, faith leaders from across traditions have come together and called for a National Day of Mourning and Lament to be observed on June 1, 2020. Over the weekend Mayor Tom McGee’s office worked to have elected officials, faith leaders, and other municipal leaders in Lynn submit videos with statements to remember the dead & mourn their passing from this terrible pandemic. Many also commented on the death of George Floyd at the hands of police officers last week and the protests & riots that have occurred because of it. The Mayor’s office provided these videos, and we edited them together.
