Aquatic Treatment at Sluice & Flax Ponds on June 12th, Restrictions In Place Until June 17th
Sluice Pond and Flax Pond in Lynn will be chemically treated with USEPA/MA registered aquatic herbicides targeting the control of nuisance aquatic vegetation and algae on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. The ponds will be closed to swimming, boating, and fishing until Thursday, June 13, 2024.
Additional restrictions include a one-day restriction on livestock/domestic animal consumption, a three-day restriction on using pond water for drinking/cooking, and irrigation of turf/landscape ornamentals, and a five-day restriction on using pond water to irrigate food crops/production ornamentals/newly seeded turf. Temporary signs that warn of the applicable water use restrictions, will be posted around the pond shoreline in advance of treatment.
The work is being performed for the City of Lynn, under contract with Water & Wetland, and pursuant to Orders of Conditions permit from the Lynn Conservation Commission and License to Apply Chemicals permits from MA DEP.
