City Increases Availability of Preschool Seats

The 2023-24 school year will see expanded access through an increased number of available seats in the preschool lottery. Lynn Public Schools is accepting preschool lottery applications until April 29.

In the spring of 2022, the City of Lynn received the Commonwealth Preschool Partnership Initiative Grant (CPPI) to help drive its goal of expanding preschool access in the public school system and providing a strong foundation of learning to students as young as age 4.

The focus of the CPPI grant is to sustain a preschool program that is aligned with the community’s birth to grade 3 strategic plan, to address family needs effectively, and to serve high-needs and underserved local populations.

This investment builds on a collaboration between the Mayor’s Office and Lynn Public Schools to expand early education access to Lynn students in a way that is both equitable and affordable. Through this grant, the City will address key issues, such as limited preschool capacity and student education gaps.

“We’re thrilled to be able to provide this significant investment that directly supports the future of our students,” said Mayor Jared C. Nicholson. “Expanding early education ensures that more families in our City have access to programs and provides the high-quality educational opportunities our students deserve.”

“Sustaining a preschool program with increased accessibility and affordability is a key priority and we’re grateful for the support from the CPPI grant. Through partnerships with Gregg House and LEO Head Start and data from family surveys, we will be able to strengthen our efforts and guide our decisions in designing a program that is right for our community.”

Interim Superintendent Debra Ruggiero

Preschool lottery applications can be found online on the Lynn Public Schools website at lynnschools.org or in person at several locations, including the School Administration Building, the main office of any Lynn public elementary school, the main desk of the Lynn Public Library, and at Mayor Nicholson’s office at City Hall.
