City of Lynn seeking individuals for appointment to several boards and commissions | January 21, 2022

The following is a call to the city seeking individuals for appointment to several boards and commissions. Application Period Closes January 31st, midnight.

Seeking Applicants for Zoning Board of Appeals

Mayor Jared Nicholson seeks volunteer applicants who are interested in serving on the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA). The ZBA is tasked with approving or denying variances for properties in Lynn who wish to be excused from the normal zoning requirements of the city. This board plays an important role in approaching development in the city in an informed and equitable way.

The ZBA is scheduled to meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7PM. Applicants should be able to commit to this time schedule. A lack of participation will qualify as grounds for removal from the board.

Applicants with knowledge and/or background related to zoning, land use, community development, building development etc. are strongly encouraged to apply. Some examples of backgrounds or associations include but are not limited to: Architects, Community Development Non-profit coordinators, Civil Engineers, Attorneys specializing in land use or development, or others with professional expertise related to the ZBA’s work. We seek a broad range of perspectives. All are welcome to apply and offer to bring their own brand of expertise to the table.

Seeking Applicants for Conservation Commission

Mayor Jared Nicholson seeks volunteer applicants who are interested in serving on the Conservation Commission. Conservation is tasked with protecting the wildlife, water resources, and environment of the City of Lynn. This board is key to our goal of safeguarding the green spaces of Lynn and preserving our natural habitats for generations to come.

This board is scheduled to meet on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 630PM. Applicants should be able to commit to this time schedule. A lack of participation will qualify as grounds for removal from the board.

Applicants with knowledgeable backgrounds in conservation are strongly encouraged to apply. Some examples of backgrounds or associations include but are not limited to: Conservation, Biology, Botany, Land Reclamation, Community Space Development, Resource management, Environmental Science or others with professional expertise related to conservation work. We seek a broad range of perspectives. All are welcome to apply and offer to bring their own brand of expertise to the table.

Seeking Applicants for the Citizens Advisory Board

Mayor Jared Nicholson seeks volunteer applicants who are interested in serving on the Citizens Advisory Board (CAB). The CAB is tasked with reviewing applications for grant funding for Community Development. This board plays an important role in determining the funds that are distributed to organizations in the city in an informed and equitable way.

The CAB meets infrequently several times a year to review funding applications and decide on distribution. Applicants should be able to commit to this time schedule. A lack of participation will qualify as grounds for removal from the board.

Applicants with knowledge and/or background related to budgeting, grants, community development, equitable community decision making etc. are strongly encouraged to apply. Some examples of backgrounds or associations include but are not limited to: Business owners/managers, community leaders, accountants, equity activists, or others with professional experience in Community Development. We seek a broad range of perspectives. All are welcome to apply and offer to bring their own brand of expertise to the table.
