Residents, visitors, business owners & employees, and other stakeholders are invited to participate in two public engagement opportunities
The City of Lynn, under the direction of the City’s Planning Department, will host two upcoming opportunities aimed at soliciting feedback about draft recommendations for a Comprehensive Parking Strategy for Downtown. This important effort commenced in November 2023 and will be finalized this summer.
On June 12th, a public workshop will be held at the Lynn Museum on 590 Washington Street beginning at 6:30 p.m. The workshop will include a summary of stakeholder discussions and a public parking survey conducted earlier in the process, feature information about Downtown Lynn’s existing parking supply and utilization, and will include details about a series of draft recommendations for the City to potentially adopt with the intention of creating a more accessible, efficient, and flexible downtown parking system. Attendees of the workshop will have the opportunity to review and provide input about the recommendations with the project team.
On June 18th, a daytime public pop-up display will be stationed at the Demakes Family YMCA Community Room at 40 Neptune Boulevard. This event has no formal agenda and the public is welcome to come and go between 11:00 AM – 1:00 pm to view project information, analysis of existing conditions, and a series of draft parking recommendations and to share any questions or feedback with project team members in an informal setting.
“To date, we’ve had great engagement and interest in this planning process, both at the initial workshop and the survey,” said Principal Planner Aaron Clausen. “I’m excited to share with the community a draft set of recommendations that are responsive to the feedback we’ve heard thus far and conditions as they exist on the ground. The public workshop and open house will be great opportunities to learn more about the draft recommendations and provide feedback to the project team.”
The public workshop is designed to be interactive but will also feature a short, initial presentation by members of the project team. Participants will be encouraged to consider both the current state and potential future needs of Downtown Lynn’s parking system and how the draft recommendations can best support both. Materials will be made available in English and Spanish. Live interpretation in Spanish will also be available, and additional languages for interpretation may be available on request prior to the meeting. The City of Lynn plans to make a recording of the presentation given at the workshop available to those that cannot attend in-person.
“Residents have an opportunity to engage in shaping the future of parking in the community. With your feedback on the draft recommendations, the City will be able to achieve a vision of a more vibrant and accessible Downtown.”
Mayor Jared C. Nicholson
