City of Lynn Welcomes Next Director of Elder Services
Meegan Simpson-Best, a certified social worker with more than 25 years of experience, has been named the next Director of Elder Services for the Lynn Senior Center.
Simpson-Best comes to the Senior Center from the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families, where she served as a Family Service and Training and Licensing Social Worker. In her previous role, she worked closely with foster parents and was responsible for the development and implementation of programs for adults over 60 years old.
She is a graduate of Salem State University with a degree in Psychology and double minors in Social Service and Black Studies.
“I am honored to be selected by the City of Lynn to serve as the next Director of Elder Services,” said Simpson-Best. “My mission is to ensure that seniors feel safe, welcomed, heard, and supported.”
Best has also served as a facilitator of a grandparents support group, which meets weekly to guide residents through the challenges and experiences associated with raising grandchildren.
“I am looking forward to joining this dynamic team at the Lynn Senior Center and working with the entire staff and volunteers to provide quality services to the seniors in our community,” said Simpson-Best.
“We have been grateful to Tania Freedman who stepped up as the interim Director of Elder Services. The City is thrilled to welcome Meegan to our team and work with her to strengthen our connection and engagement with seniors across the community. I’m confident that her passion for elder services will be a great asset to our City.”
Mayor Jared C. Nicholson
“I am excited to welcome Meegan,” said Councilor Dianna Chakoutis. “My fellow councilors and I look forward to seeing what new ideas and activities she will be bringing to the Senior Center.”
