Opening Reception | Lure of the Local

Galleries at LynnArts (GALA) are excited to announce an upcoming exhibition titled “Lure of the Local,” inspired by Lucy R. Lippard’s groundbreaking novel, “The Lure of the Local: Senses of Place in a Multicentered Society.” This exhibition seeks to showcase your special ‘local’ place in your city. Even though we want to focus on Lynn, this exhibit is not limited to Lynn, so you can submit a piece(s) of your special ‘local’ place.

The goal of this exhibit is to invite viewers to see Lynn or your favorite ‘local’ place from your artistic lens and invite them to explore the profound connections between individuals and their surroundings. Whether you find inspiration in the rugged coastline, the woods, a park, historic landmarks, a historic event, the diversity of your community, or bustling cityscapes, we encourage you to interpret the essence of our region through your piece of art.

Through various mediums including but not limited to painting, sculpture, photography,  and mixed media, we aim to capture the essence of the Northshore in all its complexity. From traditional depictions to avant-garde interpretations, we welcome diverse perspectives that reflect the multifaceted nature of our local environment.
