City of Lynn To Continue in Modified Phase 2 Step 2 until further notice

Mayor Thomas McGee & Public Health Director Michele Desmarais signed an extension order today for the City of Lynn to remain in Modified Phase Two Step Two of the Massachusetts Reopening Plan.

This order will remain in effect until rescinded following the monitoring and a determination that these activities no longer constitute an immediate risk to the public health of the community.

Any more stringent orders issued by the Commonwealth would supersede conflicting provisions of this order. The city continues to see a surge in COVID-19 cases as a result of the holiday season, and we expect to continue over the next several weeks.

You can read the entire orders below. we will post any additional updates we receive.

Building Bridges Through Music’s End of The Year Fundraising Campaign

What a year it has been! The year of Covid-19 and the “New Norm”. The year in which we were going to celebrate our 20th Anniversary! Even though we didn’t get to do that, we still managed to accomplish so much during this challenging, unpredictable time thanks to donations from generous supporters like you.

· In March, like so many others, we shut our doors and went home, not knowing if or when we would see each other or be able to open the center again. However, COVID-19 and social distancing did not stop the dedicated teachers and staff of BBTMusic from reaching beyond the break to provide the gift of learning and music. We were determined, got busy and filled their homes with the JOY of coming together. We realized that the saying, “We’re all in this together”, meant so much more than just words alone; we delivered instruments and computers to our students and kept them engaged with classes via Zoom. “We’re all in this together”.

We could not have achieved that goal without you! We’re so grateful!

· Summer came. We were still closed trying to prepare to fall and reopening.

We adapted our program and made all the necessary changes to adjust to stringent public health COVID-19 guidelines; numbers of students had to be reduced; desks now have separators, students get individual equipment, face masks, and more. With all the protective changes, we established a new program to accommodate our working families. Full School Day Remote Learning is now part of our curriculum. The doors at BBTMusic now open from 7:30 am until 5:30 pm. Our students go from Full School Day Remote Learning to After School Program without leaving the premises. This consistent stable transition is important to help them maintain a sense of normalcy during a highly ABNORMAL time.

· Now that it is mid-December, we reflect on 2020, embark on our year-end campaign and 2021, a new year, with new hope.

Our goal is to keep our doors open, providing education and care to our students and EMPOWER them as they climb the ladder to reach A# (A-sharp, the highest note on the music scale, comparable to A+, the highest academic grade) success by raising $10,000 by December 31, 2020. We’re getting ready for the New Year hopefully without so many restrictions and a more “learning normal”.

We’re reaching out to you because you’ve generously supported BBTMusic in the past. We’re asking for your help again. With your support, we can pave the road for BBTMusic students to achieve A# (Sharp) SUCCESS. Your generous gift can be made on our online donation form or by sending a check-in the enclosed envelope.

Thank you for your continuous support. We wish you a healthy and safe Holiday and a Happy New Year. We look forward to seeing you in the New Year when we will celebrate 20 years for sure!
