From the Lynn Lynn Water & Sewer Commission: Due to the critically low levels of Lynn’s drinking water reservoirs and the need to protect the City’s water supply, the Lynn Water & Sewer Commission has implemented Level 3 mandatory water conservation measures that are more stringent than the restrictions associated with the state’s Level 2 drought declaration.
A Level 3 drought indicates significantly below-normal water levels and increased stress on drinking water supplies. The Commission requires the full cooperation of all residents, businesses, and municipal departments to reduce water use and protect Lynn’s water supply.
MANDATORY WATER RESTRICTIONS
- All nonessential outdoor water use is prohibited, including lawn watering and washing of vehicles. All irrigation systems must remain shut off until further notice.
- The DPW is required to shut off irrigation to parks, cemeteries, playgrounds, and municipal landscapes, except where specifically authorized by the Commission for health & safety purposes.
- Gannon Municipal Golf Course: Irrigation is limited to greens and tees as necessary. Fairway irrigation shall be limited to 40% of normal use, with no irrigation of roughs,landscaping, or ornamental areas.
- Fire hydrants may only be used for firefighting, emergencies, and authorized water-quality purposes.
- The Water Department will continue to prioritize leak detection and repair.
The Commission will issue warnings for first offenses. Repeated violations may result in fines and possible termination of water service.
HELP CONSERVE WATER
- Check for leaks, including hot water tanks, water meters, running toilets, and leaking pipes.
- Do not let water run while brushing your teeth or shaving.
- Reduce shower times.
- Operate dishwashers and washing machines only with full loads.
Every gallon saved helps protect Lynn’s drinking water supply.
The public will be notified when conditions improve and restrictions are lifted.
