Yesterday (April 20) Gov. Baker signed legislation into law to protect homeowners and tenants from eviction and foreclosure, which will ensure housing stability for residents and families. This legislation can be read in its entirety by clicking here.

President Dr. Patricia A. Gentile made an announcement via video about the 2020 Commencement Ceremony for North Shore Community College students.

We have transcribed part of her announcement video:

“We will postpone the 2020 commencement walk and live event to May 2021. But we will honor your efforts this year with a June 25th streamed event. We will have our usual ceremony in a virtual environment.

Our soloist, student speaker, keynote speaker, conferring of degrees, and calling each and every one of your names. That will happen on this date: June 25, 2020 at 6pm.”

More details on the June 25th event will be released soon. You can watch Dr. Gentile’s full announcement video by clicking here.

The Lynn YMCA is running a Diaper Drive for our neighbors that are struggling.  WIC and S.N.A.P don’t allow for diaper and wipe purchases, so they are collecting unopened sleeves/boxes and distributing them after sanitizing. Info. on the diaper drive is below, please click the image for a larger, printable flier.

Today we received the following statement from Mayor McGee:

“At this time when critical services are most essential, I, along with my colleague mayors and United States Conference of Mayors, are calling on Congress and the Administration to make federal support available to local and state governments.

Defeating COVID-19 requires us to work together and support all cities. Our local budgets are being hit hard and drained from the economic shutdown. Cities need help now to fight the COVID 19 virus and to maintain critical public services.”

We also received the daily COVID-19 update, which is below.

The Lynn Public Health Department has confirmed that as of today, the number of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases has risen to 1,173, 114 have recovered, and 28 Lynn residents have died.

We will continue to provide regular updates on COVID-19 through the City website (www.lynnma.gov), social media, and the Smart 911 emergency notification system (sign up at www.smart911.com).
