Mayor Nicholson has published a letter to the community, highlighting immigration resources and the City of Lynn’s commitment to it’s immigrant community. The letter in both English & Spanish is below.

Dear Community,

We understand that there is a lot of uncertainty in our world right now and I want to make sure you know that I deeply empathize with your concerns. This is why it is important for you to be aware that the City has compiled immigration resources available by clicking here and in the Mayor’s Office at City Hall, Room 306.

As a reminder, our schools are committed to providing a safe and positive environment for all students and follows a policy that prevents federal authorities from entering a school building without a warrant signed by a judge or magistrate. The Lynn Police Department does not ask for or track immigration status and is committed to the safety of the entire community.

As reflected in our City’s Comprehensive Plan, Vision Lynn, Lynn will be a city where people feel safe and comfortable to live, work, learn, and play. Lynn will be a city where all community members have the housing, transportation access, social connections, and educational or economic opportunities to live a fulfilling life. Lynn will be a city to be proud of, with strong, diverse, and connected communities that take care of our shared spaces, natural resources, and each other.

The City of Lynn has always, and will continue to rely on our immigrant community as a source of strength. We value and respect our immigrant neighbors. We respect the diverse backgrounds and perspectives of all our residents and are committed to honoring the human dignity of us all while uniting around a goal we should all share and strive for – peace in our community for all of us.

Entendemos que hay mucha incertidumbre en nuestro mundo en este momento y quiero asegurarme de que sepa que comprendo profundamente sus preocupaciones.
