Mayor Thomas McGee is pleased to announced the hiring of Faustina Cuevas as the first Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Officer in the City of Lynn. Faustina was selected from a list of several highly-qualified candidates who applied for the position. The DEI officer will report to the Mayor and serve as an advisor to the City Council, Department Heads, and City Boards and Commissions on equity and justice issues. The DEI officer will play a lead role in developing strategies and initiatives to ensure greater diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout Lynn’s municipal government and the community at large.

“I am very proud of our efforts to establish this position within the Mayor’s Office to help Lynn build a more diverse, equitable and inclusive municipal government,” said Mayor Thomas M. McGee. “Over the last year there has been a clear call from members of our community that this position was necessary in order to move the City forward. Faustina brings a number of skills and years of experience having worked within the DEI realm. We strive to make Lynn city government more diverse, welcoming, and accessible to all. I am confident that Faustina will hit the ground running and help enhance the experience of local government for all Lynn residents, employees, and businesses.”

By partnering together, we will be able to move Lynn forward.”

Faustina has been committed throughout her career to DEI work with 10 years of experience as a trained facilitator, serving in a number of roles in higher education at the University of Connecticut, University of Minnesota Twin Cities, and Northeastern University. In 2020 she established her own consulting group called FC DEI Consulting, LLC which focused on helping individuals and organizations to improve the workplace climate so that staff of all backgrounds feel like they belong and have a valued voice. She has worked with over 20 organizations in the education, non-profit and private sectors and carries experience conducting trainings and presentations on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
