From the Office of Senator Brendan Crighton: On March 23rd the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) announced that Lynn Ferry services will begin its seasonal weekday service schedule on Monday, April 27th, 2026. Weekend service will begin on Saturday, May 23, 2026, coinciding with the Memorial Day holiday. This start date accounts for recent right whale activity, which would otherwise prevent the ferry from running at full speed and frequency.

The Lynn Ferry will operate throughout the summer season, providing commuters and visitors with a travel option that reduces congestion, supports greenhouse gas reduction, and offers a convenient option for riders traveling between Boston and the North Shore. A one-way fare on the Lynn Ferry is $7.00 (or $3.50 for Reduced Fare riders). Tickets can be purchased on the mTicket app or with cash on board. Commuter Boat or Commuter Rail Zone 2 (or higher) passes and M7 cards are also accepted.

“I am thrilled to welcome the Lynn ferry back for this upcoming season. The consistently high ridership proves just how vital this service is for our community. We are grateful to the Healey-Driscoll Administration and the MBTA for prioritizing a travel option that fuels economic growth, supports our workforce, and expands transit access for everyone.”

“I’m thrilled to see ferry service returning this season and building on the strong momentum from last year,” said Representative Dan Cahill. “The success of the initial launch showed just how valuable this service is to our community. I look forward to another great season on the water and the continued growth of this important transportation option.”

“The continued success of the Lynn Ferry is owed to its dedicated riders,” said Representative Jenny Armini. “I am grateful to them for sharing their enthusiasm with friends and neighbors and for turbo charging the ridership numbers.”

“We had such a successful ferry season last year, and we’re excited to build on that momentum this year,” said Representative Sean Reid. “Reliable and affordable water transportation is a game changer for our region, and I’m grateful to the Healey-Driscoll administration, the MBTA, and all of the other partners for recognizing its value and continuing to invest in it.”

“We are thrilled to announce the 2026 Lynn ferry service schedule, which has become a beloved part of our community,” said Mayor Jared Nicholson. “As we move into another year, we’reexcited that the MBTA will continue offering a reliable and accessible transportation option that serves our residents and region and enhances the daily commuting experience for riders and creates opportunities for weekend trips by sea.”

“We are excited that the Lynn Ferry is back for another successful year. Each year, our ridership numbers have increased,” said Executive Director of the Economic Development & Industrial Corporation of Lynn Jim Cowdell. We are looking forward to building off of that success and anticipate another great year.”
