LCTV News | 2024 Frederick Douglass Speech Reading (July 3, 2024)
The annual reading of the Frederick Douglass speech “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?” was held this past Wednesday. Dozens gathered at Frederick Douglass Park downtown for what has become a July 3rd tradition, where residents can sing up to read excerpts from his speech. This speech was originally approx. 4 hours long, but has been condensed into 45 one-minute paragraphs. North Shore Juneteenth Association sponsored this event which also featured speakers, music, and local resources. ____________________________________ THE LCTV NEWS IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY NORTH SHORE COMMUNITY COLLEGE, ENCOMPASS HEALTH, LEO INC, & COMMUNITY BROTHERHOOD CREDIT UNION!
