LCTV News | Senator Walter Bolverini Scenic Walkway Dedication (October 28, 2024)
State and city officials including Mayor Jared Nicholson, State Senator Brendan Crighton, Representatives Rep. Dan Cahill and Jenny Armini, Representative-elect Sean Reid and former Mayor Thomas McGee gathered to mark the offical dedication of the Senator Walter Bolverini Scenic Walkway with a brand new memorial stone the morning of the 28th. Also present were Bolverini’s two daughters, several friends and community members. Senator Boverini was a lifelong Lynn resident, returning home after his distinguished military career to become a teacher, coach, vice principal, and mentor at all of Lynn’s high schools. He was inducted into the Lynn Classical Hall of Fame in 1996 and the Lynn English Hall of Fame in 2003. After one term as State Representative of the then-9th Essex District, he ran for State Senate and won in 1972. He was appointed Senate Majority Leader in 1985, where he served until he retired in 1994.
