The City of Lynn’s 175th Anniversary Celebration | May 14, 2025
The City of Lynn celebrated its 175th anniversary with a ceremony at the Lynn Common bandstand on May 14, 2025. Lynn was incorporated as a city on May 14, 1850 – making it the 7th city in the Commonwealth. Today Lynn is the 8th largest city in the state, 15th largest in New England, and 330th largest in the nation (out of approx. 20,000).
This anniversary was celebrated by an official unveiling of the new fountain on the Lynn Common and a series of special events. This included performances by the Lynn English Marine Corps JrROTC, All-City Band, and the City’s first Poet Laureate Michelle “LaPoetica” Richardson. Multiple elected officials and community leaders also gave their thoughts on this momentous occasion.
