YouthBuild North Shore offering education, employment opportunities for youth ages 16-24

YouthBuild North Shore is a program of North Shore CDC that empowers young adults to rebuild their communities & their lives through education, employment & leadership development. YouthBuild North Shore is a workforce development program designed to help opportunity youth ages 16-24. YouthBuild offers students and graduates’ opportunities for personal growth, career development, and academic advancement through mentorship and support from YouthBuild staff and community leaders.

YouthBuild members transform their lives and roles in society through earning their High School Equivalency Diploma (HISET), learning job skills, and serving their community through building affordable housing or becoming certified nursing assistants. Our program model integrates education, leadership development, counseling, construction or health care, and other training skill areas, along with resources for graduates.

To help ease the transition from past high school experience to the YouthBuild Program, YouthBuild North Shore and over 250 YouthBuild programs across the country implement a “Mental Toughness Orientation” consisting of team-building activities, life skills training, and more.

What is Mental Toughness

  • To help ease the transition from past high school experience to the YouthBuild Program, YouthBuild North Shore and over 250 YouthBuild programs across the country implement a “Mental Toughness Orientation” consisting of team-building activities, life skills training, and more.
  • The purpose of this two-week long orientation is to check each applicant’s ‘mental toughness’ – their desire to be in the program and willingness and ability to work hard, follow instructions, and get along with others.
  • After completing Mental Toughness, the young people who have shown their dedication to the program and commitment to making a better life for themselves will be enrolled. We look forward to welcoming a new group of youths, fostering their development and unlocking their potential for success!
