Statewide Exit Renumbering Project Notification

Please be advised that MassDOT will begin converting all exit numbers on freeways to a milepost-based numbering system, per Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) requirements. Work will take place on each corridor in the west to east or north to south direction. Work will typically be completed during the overnight hours.

Reminder: Lynn City Hall & other public buildings now open by appointment only

Mayor Thomas McGee announced last week that Lynn City Hall, Department of Public Works, Library, Police and Fire Department administrative offices will be open to the public by appointment only starting today. On-site staffing in those respective buildings will be reduced to 50% capacity at any one time. All public safety services, including Police and Fire, will continue to operate at full-staffing levels and curbside trash and recycling pickup will continue on a normal schedule.

“As we see the number of cases rise throughout Lynn and the Commonwealth, it is important that we lead by example and take preventative actions similar to those we are asking the public to take.” McGee said. “This will limit the amount of people in our public buildings, while continuing to carry out essential services for our residents. I encourage all businesses in Lynn that are able to efficiently conduct business remotely to continue to do so to stop the spread of COVID-19.”

Residents are encouraged to conduct any urgent City Hall business via phone, email or at www.lynnma.gov. If you do need to visit City Hall in person, please call 781-598-4000 to make an appointment with the respective department. A reminder that Lynn City Hall hours are Monday, Wednesday & Thursday 8:30AM-4:00PM, Tuesday 8:30AM-8:00PM and Friday 8:30AM-12:30PM. Residents should anticipate slight delays in response with some staff working in person and others working remotely; however, all offices will remain fully functioning.

Toys for Tots collections at all Lynn Fire stations this month

From the Lynn Fire Department’s Facebook page: The Marine Toys for Tots Program has been delivering a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters since 1947. Covid-19 has put a strain on all of us, but we refuse to let it stop us from helping such a worthy cause.

Once again, Lynn firefighters will be teaming up with the Marines, collecting new and unwrapped toys at all Lynn fire stations throughout December. Please help put a smile on a child’s face this Christmas.

From Mayor McGee’s office: The Lynn Public Health Department has confirmed that as of today, the number of active, confirmed positive COVID-19 cases is 1,545 with 51 new cases today. 6,804 Lynn residents have recovered and 136 have died. The total number of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases in Lynn since March 21, 2020, including those who have died and recovered, is 8,485. Earlier today Mayor McGee’s Facebook page shared this link (about area mayors urging more action against COVID-19) and the following statement:

Lynn, along with many other communities across the Commonwealth, has seen a substantial increase in positive COVID-19 cases to levels not seen since the beginning of the pandemic. Local leaders continue to be challenged on what additional actions can be taken to reduce the continuing community spread.

It is time for the Commonwealth as a whole, to look at implementing a pause and a reasonable rollback in the short term, to flatten the increasing infection rate. If a rollback and pause is enacted, it is important that the state work with us and provide financial support to address the potential impacts that may affect local businesses and employees as a result.

If this recent spike continues and becomes a trend, we know that it will eventually lead to an overwhelming number of hospitalizations and deaths, as we unfortunately saw earlier this year.
