From Minton Regan Homes: Thanksgiving is a time for family, friends, food and gratitude. With support from Lynn Councilors Alinsug and Megie-Maddrey, and Brotherhood Credit Union, Tesoro Food Distributors, and Stop & Compare Market, Minton Regan Homes will provide Thanksgiving meals to families at Lynn elementary schools this Thanksgiving.

This initiative was started by Jean-Marie Minton of Minton Regan Homes in 2022 as “a way to give back to the Lynn community and help families who may need additional support during the Thanksgiving holiday”. The baskets serving as an opportunity to bring the community together through generosity and make the holiday a little easier and more meaningful for local families with young children.

In addition to the suggested basket items listed on the flier, they welcome gift certificates and monetary donations in any amount. Monetary donations will be used to purchase gift certificates that families can use toward fresh protein, such as chicken or turkey, for their Thanksgiving meals.

Minton Regan Homes works with participating Lynn elementary schools to identify families in their school communities who could benefit from receiving a Thanksgiving basket. Each school submits a number of requested baskets, and those requests help determine the number of baskets allocated to each school. The schools participating this year are Aborn, Brickett, Cobbet, Harrington, and Hood.

Over the past four years, they have distributed 461 Thanksgiving baskets to families in the Lynn community. In 2022 they started by making 72 baskets, and by last year they were up to 148 baskets. The goal for 2026 is to distribute 200 baskets, the most ambitious year yet for Minton Regan Homes.

Community partners have been a big part of the success for this annual tradition. Brotherhood Credit Union has generously provided space for this event, with Tesoro Food Distributors and Stop and Compare Market also providing support.

“We are thankful for these ongoing partnerships and for all the businesses, volunteers, schools, and community members who continue to come together to support Lynn families during the Thanksgiving season.”
