On November 6th a 2-alarm fire destroyed a multi-family home at 11 Seymour Ave. in Lynn. According to the Lynn Fire Department three families were displaced, but all residents made it out unharmed. One firefighter was transported with minor injuries. The fire is still under investigation.

Since Friday two GoFundMe pages have been set up by family members of those affected by the fire. The two GoFundMe pages that have been shared are below, with descriptions & links for each.

From GoFundMe organized by Adolfo Carranza: On November 6, 2020 at Seymour Ave Lynn, MA around 9am Jeffrey Morales and his family lost their house and everything inside due to a house fire including their clothes, memories and a place to call home. They have two kittens who were trapped in the home during the fire that are now in the hospital/vet with injuries from burns and smoke inhalation. Anything will help to get this family back on their feet and to be able to pay the medical bills of their two kittens. Thank you in advance and God bless you for anything.
The family also requests any new/used clothing or essentials for the kittens. Anything will help! You can contact me or any of the family members!

Salvation Army Food Distribution updates

This week the Salvation Army of Lynn’s food distribution will be canceled on Monday & Wednesday. Tuesday is is expected to be open, but Thursday & Friday are currently in question. This is due to a food shortage & being between contracts with vendors, according to Helen Johnson of the Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army’s Food Pantry is currently being held at Manning Field every week Monday-Friday from 1-4PM. The change from their Franklin Street location is due to the large amount of cars that were causing traffic issues downtown.
Those visiting are asked to bring proof of address, drive if possible, & have a clean trunk to put food supplies into. Those walking are being advised to bring a cart to carry the box, as it is heavy. Multiple families are allowed per car, and the Salvation Army is able to refer to places that deliver if needed.

For updates and closure notices please follow the Salvation Army of Lynn’s Facebook page.

The Lynn DPW has sent us an updated street sweeping schedule for this week. Thursday & Friday’s schedules have changed from what we released last week.

Every Friday afternoon we expect to post the street sweeping schedule for the next week, until street sweeping has been completed. Please follow our Facebook page for these postings.
