Funds will support medical care, services for women, expectant mothers

Lynn Women’s Health, an outpatient OB/GYN practice affiliated with Beverly Hospital, has been awarded a $24,000 grant from The Women’s Fund of Essex County to support its family-centered medical care and services to women in the Lynn community.

The three-year award will enable Lynn Women’s Health to provide transportation funds for expectant mothers in need. The grant will also provide car seats and welcome totes for new patients containing multilingual prenatal education materials.

Lynn Women’s Health has been providing comprehensive and easily accessible obstetrics and gynecological care to women in Lynn for 20 years.

Located at 280 Union St., third floor, in Lynn, the practice is led by an all-female team of 11 medical and support professionals. The multi-specialty team is dedicated to ensuring its patients, many of whom are recent immigrants and non-English speakers, have access to equitable health care. Its obstetrics patients enjoy the services of the Maternity Department of Beverly Hospital, a member of Beth Israel Lahey Health, and have access to its Level II Special Care Nursery.

“We are grateful for the generous support of The Women’s Fund of Essex County in recognizing the important services that Lynn Women’s Health provides the community,” said Sophea Chea, Practice Manager II of Lynn Women’s Health. “This grant will have an enormous impact on ensuring that the health care needs of our patients and their families are met with the personalized approach and respect they deserve.”

The Women’s Fund of Essex County was established in February 2003 to raise and distribute funds in support of opportunities to improve the lives of underserved women and girls in Essex County. Its annual grant awards support the efforts of nonprofit organizations in Essex County to address issues of systemic social inequalities specific to women and girls.
