GLSS, along with other state community-based organizations, has just been awarded a second grant to assist Health Care for All and MassHealth to get the word out about the new re-enrollment process for all MassHealth members that began in April 2023 and will continue until March 31, 2024.
Staff have been attending councils on aging, food distribution sites, local farmers’ markets, and a wide variety of other events to connect with MassHealth members in the community. “There has been a fair amount of confusion regarding this process,” says Kathryn C. Burns, GLSS’ CEO. “Before the pandemic, this was an annual process that members were familiar with and expected; however, due to its suspension during the COVID-19 public health emergency, it feels like something new to people.”
Members are urged to call MassHealth (1-800-841-2900) to update their contact information, including current address, phone number, and email, to ensure that they receive the “blue envelope” from MassHealth directly. Lynn is considered a priority community for outreach.
Through another grant from the Executive Office of Elder Affairs, GLSS will be holding office hours in Phoenix Food Hub with Certified Application Counselors (CACs) to help people with the re-determination process. If you would like to make an appointment, contact Phoebe Short at 781-586-8619.
