Downtown Parking Study: Open House + Presentation

On February 7, 2024, the City of Lynn, led by the Planning Department, will host the first in a series of public workshops aimed at soliciting feedback for the comprehensive Parking Strategy for Downtown. Developing a parking strategy is a priority action item identified in Vision Lynn, the City’s Comprehensive plan. The strategy will identify improvements to parking policies, parking management, and ensure adequate parking facilities are available to meet current parking needs while supporting future growth and investment in Lynn’s downtown.

The workshop will be held at the Lynn Museum located at 590 Washington Street starting at 6:00 PM, and will feature information about Downtown Lynn’s existing parking supply while providing an opportunity for attendees to share comments, mark-up maps and provide suggestions about how best to ensure that the parking system is accessible, easy to use, integrated with other forms of transportation.

Participants will be encouraged to consider both the current state of Downtown Lynn’s parking system and offer potential ideas for improvement. Materials will be made available in English and Spanish. Live interpretation in Spanish will also be available, and additional languages for interpretation may be available on request prior to the meeting. A recording of the presentation given at the workshop will be made available online for those unable to attend in-person.

“A thoughtful, well-designed Downtown Parking Strategy is essential to improving the management and accessibility of our public parking spaces,” said Mayor Nicholson. “Parking plays an essential role in supporting Lynn’s economy and vitality. These community workshops will provide the perspectives of those that make the downtown a cultural and business hub and will help guide our plan to creating a more vibrant and sustainable downtown for everyone.”

The City of Lynn is committed to facilitating a robust process of community engagement relating to its Downtown parking strategy, including in-person and virtual options for stakeholders to provide feedback. In addition to the public workshop on February 7, the City will host two more public meetings in the coming months while also hosting a series of focus groups with targeted stakeholders. Also beginning on February 7, a survey hosted on the project website (www.lynnincommon.com/parking) will be available for residents, visitors, business owners, and employees to provide feedback about their experiences with parking in Downtown.
