Sidewalk Violation Increase
Starting June 2025, in an effort to deter vehicles from parking on sidewalks, the City of Lynn has increased the fine for this violation from $30 to $50. In the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, it is illegal to park on sidewalks. This regulation aims to prevent vehicles from obstructing sidewalks which helps ensure pedestrian safety.
MPS SAFETYSTICK INFO/LOCATIONS
MPS SafetySticks are an automated, camera operated parking enforcement tool. When a vehicle parks in a restricted area where a SafetyStick is installed, a photo is taken, and a citation is mailed to the registered owner. Locations and violations listed as followed.

- 28 Market Square | Crosswalk
- 42 Market Street | MBTA Bus Stop
- 37 Friend St (Harrington School) | Crosswalk/Bus Stop
- 110 Broad St (Gregg House) | Bus Stop
Andrew St. Lot – Designated Permit Holder Parking
he Lynn Parking Department will be designating 20 parking spaces along the Andrew St side of the Andrew Lot specifically for permit holders (AM, PM, and 24hr). These select spaces will be reserved for permit holders 24 hours a day and are first come, first served. If permit holder spaces are not available, permit holders are still entitled to open spaces in lot. Please note that anyone parking in these spaces without a permit may be subjected to a $30 citation for restricted parking.
Be on the lookout for the installation of the sign which will indicate the designated parking spaces.

Munroe St / Oxford St. / Union St Kiosks
As recommended by the Parking Study, the City of Lynn will start to eliminate timed parking and replace it with paid parking with the first 20 minutes being free. Paid parking will be from 8AM-8PM, with free parking being 8PM-8AM. Installation is set for late September 2025.
Lynn beach resident parking enforcement
As we enter the summer months, there will be an anticipated rise in beachgoers utilizing parking in the area. Please be advised that enforcement of Resident Permit Parking will be conducted more frequently throughout the day. If you are a resident and have not yet obtained a permit, you can register at Lynn.thepermitportal.com.

Lynn Traffic Commission
