From Greater Lynn Senior Services: High school students residing in Lynn, Lynnfield, Nahant, Saugus, & Swampscott are eligible to apply for the 2026 Lique Human Services Scholarship from Greater Lynn Senior Services (GLSS). Applications due by end of day Friday, April 3rd, 2026.
Vince Lique was made the Executive Director of GLSS in the fall of 1982, at a time when the agency only had 20 staff and an annual budget of less than $2million. Through his determination to meet the needs of those in the greatest need and demand that all people be treated with dignity and respect, Lique helped GLSS grow to over 200+ staff and a budget of over $50million today. Vince Lique passed away in 2006 but has been remembered for years thanks to his tireless advocacy for senior citizens, those with disabilities, and anyone else that needed assistance. Vince “taught us compassion first, bend the rules if you must, but make sure when a person in need reaches out, that [we reach] back with a warm and gentle hand,” a colleague remembers.
To that end, the Lique Human Services Scholarship was created. A total of $10,000 will be awarded to up to five students who have an interest in or are considering a career in human services and who have made an impact in their community through service.
