JULY 29 UPDATE FROM CITY OF LYNN:
Please be aware that the City’s trash barrel replacement program has resumed.
Crews were out on Saturday, July 26th and the full operation continued on Monday, July 28th (blue recycling week). If your trash day is this week and you live on a street designated for replacement, listed below, please leave your barrels curbside following pick up.
If your barrels weren’t picked up this week and your street is on the impacted list, barrels will be collected on your scheduled recycling day or within your recycling week. If your barrels were picked up and not replaced, new barrels will be dropped early this week.
The City of Lynn is launching the first phase of its new trash and recycling barrel distribution this month, starting in specific locations across the City. Residents should refer to the full list of streets below to confirm if their street is affected.
Phase 1 of this initiative will begin during the weeks of Monday, July 21st and Monday, July 28th and is expected to finish on Saturday, August 2nd. Phase 2 will commence at a later date, and we will share that information when it is available.
To ensure a smooth transition, your old barrels will be collected and new ones delivered during your regular trash collection days.
what you need to do:
- On your regular trash day, starting the week of Monday, July 21st through Monday, July 28th, please leave your old trash and recycling barrels at the curb, as usual. Our crews will collect your old barrels.
- Shortly after your old barrels are collected, you will receive your new barrels.
Important Notes:
- The barrels will be the same size as the current ones.
- This rollout will initially affect residents in the areas of the first phase. Residents in the impacted areas should receive a letter in the mail about this initiative.
- Please ensure your old barrels are kept on the curb for collection, even if they have been emptied.
- Barrels must be kept curbside. Barrels located on private property cannot be retrieved.
- There may be a 1-2 day delay between barrel pick up and delivery. The team will work to ensure your new barrels arrive in a timely manner. If your old barrels aren’t collected, or if you don’t receive your new cart as expected, please allow until the end of the rollout schedule before contacting Lynn DPW.
- Pickup schedules remain unchanged. Upon receiving your new cart, you may begin using it for household trash collection on your regular day.
