The Demakes Family YMCA is empowering local teens to envision their future through a series of immersive college tours across the Greater Boston area during April school vacation week.

As part of the Y’s commitment to youth development and academic success, the program gives high school students the chance to explore college campuses, connect with current students, and imagine themselves in the next chapter of their educational journey.

The tours kick off on Wednesday, April 23, with a visit to Northeastern University, followed by lunch at the YMCA and an afternoon cultural excursion to the Museum of Fine Arts. On Friday, April 25, students will hit the road early to tour Salem State University and Endicott College, wrapping up the day with a museum visit.

“College may feel like a distant dream for some of our teens,” said Karina Teixeira, Senior Branch Executive Director of the Demakes Family YMCA in Lynn. “These visits give them the opportunity to see what’s possible and start to picture themselves on campus. It’s about building confidence and opening doors.”

The program currently has 20 teens signed up participants. The tours are free for participants and include transportation, meals, and access to campus and museum experiences.

“I appreciate that something like this was happening for teens in Lynn and think it is a great opportunity to get yourself out there. I wish this can happen every year until I graduate!” –Princess, Sophomore, Lynn.
