Qigong classes
Qigong classes will be held on Tuesdays, 10am-11am, starting September 10th.
Teacher-guided breathing exercises to optimize “Qi” circulation to regulate your mind and body’s movement and posture – providing a sense of joy and calm. Qigong is an old, developing discipline that combines breathing exercises, movement, self-massage, gong meditation, and healing postures to provide a comprehensive approach to self-healing exercise and meditation.
Is this for you? Whether you are new to Qigong, or have previous experience, you will enjoy this one-hour meditative exercise that will include qigong theory and philosophy, self-massage, Daoyin, Five-Animal Frolics, 8 Silk Brocade, 18 Forms, Six Healing Sounds, and gong meditation.
Some of the benefits of Qigong:
- Promotes relaxation and good health
- Improves balance and flexibility
- Relieves stress and fatigue
- Strengthens body and mind
What’s the difference between Qigong and Tai Chi? Both Tai Chi and Qigong are great forms of health and healing, but:
- Qigong is easy to learn, and it can be practiced at home regularly, while Tai Chi requires memorization of movements in sequence
- There are infinite numbers of Qigong styles that suit everyone’s level, while Tai Chi movements can be longer and more challenging
- Qigong exercises can be practiced while sitting, standing, or lying down, while Tai Chi is a continuous and moving meditation
