Information from the City of Lynn

Posted to the Lynn Office of Emergency Management Facebook page at 2:45PM.
NO FURTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS EXPECTED UNTIL AFTER 8:30AM.

The City of Lynn Office of Emergency Management continues to monitor a major winter storm expected to impact our area from Sunday night into Monday. According to the National Weather Service, Lynn is currently in the 18–24″ accumulation zone, with high confidence in a significant snow event.

🕒 Key Timing
  • Arrival: Accumulating snow is expected to begin Sunday night.
  • Heaviest Snow: The most intense rates (3-4″/hr, possibly higher) will occur between Monday 5 AM and 4 PM.
  • Tapering Off: Snow will begin to wind down late Monday afternoon or early evening.
💨 Hazards & Impacts
  • Travel: Travel will be difficult to impossible on Monday. We strongly advise staying off the roads to allow DPW crews to clear snow.
  • Blizzard Conditions: Expect heavy snow combined with strong NE winds (40–60 mph gusts). This will result in low visibility and potentially whiteout conditions.
  • Power Outages: The combination of heavy wet snow and high winds brings a high risk of tree damage and power outages. Ensure your devices are charged and flashlights are ready.
  • Coastal Flooding: A Coastal Flood Watch is in effect. High tides on Monday morning and Tuesday morning could result in beach erosion and inundation in low-lying coastal areas.
🏠 What You Should Do Now
  • Parking: Follow all City of Lynn snow emergency parking regulations (check for Blue Light activations).
  • Supplies: Complete your grocery and pharmacy trips today.
  • Safety: Check on neighbors, especially the elderly, and ensure your heating vents are clear of snow.

Stay tuned for further updates regarding parking bans and school closures.
