❄️ STORM RECOVERY UPDATE ❄️

The storm has passed, and Lynn had a final snow total of 17.2 inches. We want to thank our DPW crews and first responders for their incredible work over the last 24 hours.

⚡ POWER STATUS

We have made significant progress! National Grid reports that only 2 customers remain without power. We are working to ensure everyone is back online shortly. If you are still experiencing an outage not reflected on the outage map, please contact National Grid directly.

🚒 HELP YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD: ADOPT A HYDRANT

In an emergency, every second counts. With over 17 inches of snow on the ground, many of our city’s fire hydrants are buried.

Please shovel out the hydrant nearest to your home.

Clear a path from the street and a 3-foot perimeter around the hydrant so firefighters can access it immediately if needed.

🛡️ POST-STORM SAFETY TIPS

Recovery will take a few days. Please keep the following in mind to keep yourself and your neighbors safe:

  • Shoveling Safety: This was a heavy snowfall. Take it slow, push the snow instead of lifting when possible, and take frequent breaks. If you feel chest pain or shortness of breath, stop immediately and seek medical help.
  • Clear Your Vents: Double-check that your furnace, dryer, and water heater exhaust vents are clear of snow banks to prevent Carbon Monoxide buildup inside your home.
  • Roof Snow: Be mindful of heavy snow loads on roofs and porches. If you see signs of structural distress, evacuate and call a professional.
  • Watch for Ice: As temperatures fluctuate, melting snow will refreeze. Watch for “black ice” on sidewalks and secondary roads.
  • Check on Neighbors: Please take a moment to check on elderly neighbors or those with functional needs to ensure they have heat, food, and clear access to their exits.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation throughout this major event.
