The following article was originally published in October when winners were announced. It has now been updated to include placements.
Exciting news to share: LCTV are finalists in 3 categories of the Nor’Easter Awards! The works being recognized are our videos on the Free Little Libraries around Lynn, electrical boxes painted as part of the “Fabrics of the Community” series, and an episode of our weekly newscast.
The Nor’Easter Awards recognizes the achievements of Community Media/PEG Access Centers and their affiliated local producers in the Northeast, and is put on every year by the Alliance for Community Media’s Northeast region. This festival, in its 16th year, aims to recognize the work of staff and members at media centers like ours throughout the region. Entries created in 2023 were eligible for entry in over a dozen categories, and were judged by volunteers who work at media centers around New England. In early December ACM-NE will announce exact placements (1st, 2nd, or 3rd place) at a ceremony in Mystic, Connecticut – held annually along with their conference.
HUGE thank you to The R.E.A.L. Program & Lynn Public Arts Commission for working on two of these videos with us! And thank you to all our supporters, we couldn’t do this without you!

Little Free Libraries in Lynn
Category: Community Impact
The City of Lynn is full of parks. Just like parks, Lynn is also full of Little Free Libraries. Some nestled in the corner of a neighborhood and some there for all to see. You may have seen these while driving by and wondered, what are these little buildings? Within each lie various books of all types. Book lovers of all ages are encouraged to both take books to read as well as share their own.
And the reason Lynn has so many of these Libraries is thanks to the work of Jan Plourde and the REAL Program. Jan sat down with us to discuss REAL and the Little Free Libraries. Jan discusses the importance of literacy, how the community can use the LFLs, and more.

“Fabrics of The Community” presented by the Lynn Public Arts Commission
Category: Arts & theater
Last summer the Lynn Public Arts Commission commissioned local artists to create pieces for their “Fabrics of the Community”series. Local artists were invited to create artwork focused on cultural fabrics they found important to them, and the cultural groups on Lynn.
We spoke with local artists Nicole Werth, Sunil Gulab, & Emmanuelle LeGal about their pieces and why they chose what they did. These works of art were done on electrical boxes on both Boston St. & Broadway, with 9 completed for all to enjoy.
LCTV News
Category: News & Magazine format
For this category we had to select a single episode of our news program and submit it, and we selected the July 14, 2023 episode. Huge shout-out to our News Director Dani Vittori, who works tirelessly to make our news the best it can be every week.
On this episode on the LCTV News we reported on the city’s new housing receivership program, the Concerned Citizens of Lynn Food Drive, a statement from the Lynn Police on recent overdoses, local sports, and more news from the week. We also show recaps of the community ferry ride, Lynn Woods July 4th parade, & more events from around the city.
On the Lynn Lowdown we featured two interviews, first with the Lynn Music Foundation about events/programs & then with Senator Brendan Crighton about transportation.
