LCTV hiring for “News Director” position

Lynn Community Television is seeking someone with a passion for local news and community to join our team.

Job Summary

As the News Director you will be the point person and producer for LCTV’s news program. You will be actively involved in the community covering events, community meetings, creating news packages and producing in-studio interviews. You must be comfortable in front of a camera as well as behind it. You will be assigned a regular weekday schedule with one “Late night,” consisting of noon to 8pm. Weekend work for community event coverage will be required. This position is classified as Full Time/Exempt.

  • Act as a one person crew to create high-end field productions from pre-production through post-production.
  • Establish and maintain relations with state and city officials, local organizations, community leaders, businesses and other “key players” to generate leads for new content.
  • Work closely with the Community Media Producer and other staff on creating and sourcing content.
  • Assist the Executive Director in finding new community partners and sponsors.
  • Research the newest trends in media production and recommend new equipment to the Executive Director.
  • Produce, film and edit LCTV news and interviews on your own and with the assistance of other LCTV staff and interns.
  • Film and edit Lynn Municipal Meetings as assigned by the Executive Director.
  • Teach classes in Field Production, Post-Production and various advanced classes.
  • Assist in community outreach and give tours and information to potential LCTV members.
  • Assist LCTV members, students and interns with productions, questions and issues.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Requirements

  • Degree in journalism, film, video, and/or broadcast media or related field
  • A demo reel of past work
  • Proficiency in Final Cut Pro (Those proficient in Premiere or Avid may be considered)
  • Willingness to learn studio production (if only proficient in field production)
  • Must be able to turn around news packages quickly while working on longer term projects (time management)
  • Must be able to cover events that occur nights and weekends
  • Must be self-motivated and organized
  • Experience in public access television is preferred
  • Fluency in Spanish, Khmer, Creole or other languages is a plus
