Lynn Community Television has rebuilt its website from the ground up to deliver the content viewers desire most in a searchable and more organized fashion.
Whether one is looking for a member show, a board or committee meeting or election information, it’s all there, starting with the four most recent in shows arranged as produced by members, LCTV staff, and government content right on the home page. A single click takes you to the rest of each category. Or, if you want the latest of “everything,” there’s always lynntv.org/latest
One can easily view all Zoning Board of Appeals meetings in a single page, or all episodes of their favorite member-produced show by using the new menus.
“Our old website relied heavily on pointing people to our 3rd party cloud service for video content, and when people left our site for that one, they were directed away from the other information we provide for the community.” said Executive Director, Seth Albaum. “We somewhat selfishly want people to stay on our website where they will find event listings, information coming out of City Hall, Lynn Public Schools and other news you can use as a Lynn resident. Not all of our content is in the form of a video.”
“I feel very confident in saying that this website makes it easier to find what you’re looking for, and maybe even some stuff you didn’t know you wanted”, said Director of Operations David Riley Jr. “I feel as though our election section looks better than it ever has before, and is the definitive ‘one-stop shop’ for election coverage in Lynn. Another aspect of the site I’m excited for people to check out is our online community calendar. It is more organized, easier to share, easier to submit events to, and just looks better on the eyes.”
“It’s also important to note that everything is absolutely free to access, regardless of if you have cable or not”, Riley added.
Having all content embedded within LynnTV.org serves another purpose, as well. Already, the site is ranking higher in web searches than before, and that will only improve over time. Albaum explained,”It’s our job as a community media center to provide a visible platform for the community in all the places local audiences can be found. SEO matters to our members.” In that spirit, social media share buttons are also provided on the site for each posted video or bit of news.
Yet, for people who liked the cloud video server interface, otherwise known as “Video On Demand” or “The VoD,” it is still an option on the new site. Otherwise, all content is embedded seamlessly within the new LynnTV.org.
And like the old LynnTV.org, there is information about the organization itself and there are sign-up pages for new and returning members and sponsors.
